For this new single, The Lone Ranger came to us saying 'I want to do something different, something more closer to a hip hop vibe, with more acting in my singing… and lots of sound effects'. After the massive gun battle with armed gangs fighting police and soldiers that took place in Kingston in may 2010, he tried to explain that he wanted to raise some awareness on today's Jamaica, where between 70-80% of fatal shootings have been linked to criminal gangs, whose firepower equals that of the police.

Pompidoo (not to be confused with similarly named deejay Prince Pompidou who recorded in the early 70's) is the original rock stone voiced Jamaican reggae and dancehall deejay who worked King Jammy's sound system and was able to make his voice sound like a synthesizer. He was most popular in Jamaica in the late 1980s, with a series of singles including "Governor General", "The DJ With The Rockstone Voice" or "Synthesizer Voice". After no new release during the last 5 years, Pompidoo is now back on the airwaves with this stunning new version of his 2004 single "Come Ya Fi Talk", originally recorded for the French Bam Salute label, remastered and dressed with a brand new riddim by roots reggae master Grant Phabao! An original raggamuffin monster tune, strictly rub-a-dub, that's sure to rock the modern dancehalls anytime!!

After so many reggae remixes of hip hop, soul, funk, pop, rock, etc., we thought 'what if we tried he other way round? Let's take some of our reggae songs, put out the riddim, and build something else than reggae on the a cappella!' This is one of the resulting tracks. Carlton Livingston in a Jazz tuxedo.

After Usain Bolt's heart breaking false start, which left him disqualified from the 2011 World Athletics Championships, Jamaican deejay The Lone Ranger and French producer Grant Phabao decided to record Usain Bolt The Puma, an homage song to Jamaica's greatest sprinter (and, obviously, his sponsor). The song starts on a killer chorus hook before slipping into an unstoppable flow of no less surprising verses, filled with wiki-accuracy, wicked rhymes and dynamic rub-a-dub gimmicks. The reggae groove itself is relentless, tight and bumpy, like 70s Jamaica sounding heavy.

The iPhone Connection song is a tribute to the co-founder and CEO of Apple who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer this summer. It was recorded at Paris DJs studios just a few days before Steve Jobs passed away. Jamaican DJ The Lone Ranger is on vocal duties with French dubmeister Grant Phabao at the controls & playing all instruments. The Lone Ranger is one of Jamaica's most influential early dancehall DJs. He was twice voted N°1 deejay on the island, in 1979 and 1980. He helped pioneer a newly rhythmic, on-the-beat rhyming style that led DJ toasting into the modern age, and punctuated his lyrics with bizarre exclamations and sound effects ("bim" and "ribbit" were his favorites) that made him perhaps the most imaginative stylist of his time. He had originally recorded The Walkman Connection way back in 1984 (on "DJ Daddy" / Techniques), now fully updated to 2011 as The Iphone Connection !

During the summer of 2009 a strictly limited 7 inch was pressed at 100 copies in Jamaica, released by the T.I.M.E.C. label with their distinctive 'instant collectors' uniqueness. The A-side, Don't Sell Your Soul is a smashing roots reggae monster, with huge vocal harmonies on a deep and burning Grant Phabao riddim, but the gem of the record might be on the B-side, Zion Holy Place, a spiritual gospel/jazz piece on which the Jamaican church-infused harmonies of The Jays fit like a glove. Both tracks are taken from the full-length album Stepping up In Time to be released by the brand new Colored-Inc. label in sept/oct 2010. The Jays are back, as fresh as ever, ready to hit the charts!

"Fever", The new LONE RANGER single produced by Grant Phabao. "For all these years I wanted to do "Fever" and I had to wait until I met Phabao and TIMEC to get it right. It's a combination style of Ranger, singer and deejay. Counteracting styles. Gliding in deejay style. Original 70 deejay style of Lone Ranger, you know." - The Lone Ranger.

Originally penned by DANDY LIVINGSTON in Jamaica, "(MESSAGE TO YOU) RUDIE" became the international hit single everybody knows when THE SPECIALS covered it in 1979 (with ELVIS COSTELLO producing). Now the track gets back to Jamaica with legendary Studio One deejay LONE RANGER (without whom there wouldn't be any YELLOWMAN, SHABBA RANKS or SEAN PAUL today), and his rub-a-dub partner CARLTON LIVINGSTON, who spill some hearty vocals with the usual signature gimmicks from THE LONE RANGER, the original "oink", "ribbit" and other "Tell You 'Bout It" master. Their version of "(MESSAGE TO YOU) RUDIE" is an instant classic, a smash in-your-face hit single that you can recognize as such in a few seconds. They're keeping the flavour original, on a Jamaican tempo... roots style!

Enfin le 2ème single de Grant Phabao! Killer acid filtered disco dubby pumpin' house: "the bongo beat" indeed.
